Don't Just Know the Rules. Put Your Skills to the Test.
Move beyond theory and practise applying your safety knowledge. Explore realistic workplace challenges, identify hazards, make decisions and learn why the right safety controls matter.
Hazard Hunt: What Would You Report?
Imagine you are carrying out a safety inspection before a warehouse shift begins. Examine the scene carefully. Identify unsafe conditions, explain what could happen and recommend actions to reduce the risks.
Study the scene before answering. There is more than one potential hazard. Describe what you observe in your own words. You do not need to use technical language to take part.
Record your observations
Enter up to three observations to begin. For each one, describe the hazard, what could happen and what you would recommend. You can submit fewer than three observations.
Your review
Feedback is based on simple keyword matching against model answers. It may not recognise every valid alternative description. Use the explanations as learning guidance, not as a formal competence assessment or accredited qualification.
Can You Assess the Risk Before Work Begins?
Take the role of a site safety officer. Review a construction scenario, record existing controls, rate the risks, and decide what further action is needed before work proceeds.
Hazard 1
Your task: Assess the current situation before deciding what additional controls are required.

Construction Site Risk Assessment Register
Example register for learning purposes. Initial scores below are illustrative and based on the risk matrix displayed here. They must not be treated as universal ratings for every construction site.
Risk matrix used in this exercise
Score = Likelihood × Severity. Low: 1–4; Medium: 5–9; High: 10–16; Extreme: 17–25.
| L × S | Severity 1 | Severity 2 | Severity 3 | Severity 4 | Severity 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Likelihood 5 | 5 M | 10 H | 15 H | 20 E | 25 E |
| Likelihood 4 | 4 L | 8 M | 12 H | 16 H | 20 E |
| Likelihood 3 | 3 L | 6 M | 9 M | 12 H | 15 H |
| Likelihood 2 | 2 L | 4 L | 6 M | 8 M | 10 H |
| Likelihood 1 | 1 L | 2 L | 3 L | 4 L | 5 M |
L = Low · M = Medium · H = High · E = Extreme
| Activity / hazard | Who may be harmed and how | Existing controls | Initial risk (L × S) | Additional controls required | Responsible person | Priority / target | Residual risk (L × S) |
|---|
The downloaded register is a training example. Confirm site conditions, legal requirements, control implementation and residual risk before using any risk assessment for actual work.
